To strangle or not to strangle

I’m in a quandry about Strangles, a highly infectious, bacterial disease. It is not common in the south, so the horses I’m about to buy have not been vaccinated. Some say I should have the vet give the vaccination now, but Mary thinks it would be too stressful to give right before the trip. The vet in Shelbyville who’s doing the pre-purchase exam agrees with Mary. So, no strangles just yet.
