Li'l waterer fixed

waterer

We are so lucky. the weather for January has been warmer than normal. It was in the 40's the day we returned from Hawaii.

Our electriction came out today to see if power is the problem with the frozen Li'l Springs waterer. Grant checked everything out and that wasn't the problem, which is a good thing. A new breaker box would cost a bit.

After looking at the waterer itself, we figured what happened is that the water level between the drinking area and the chamber got below the channel and the cold air froze the inner workings. After emptying the water out and adjusting the float we got the water level higher and working again. What a relief.

Aloha and welcome back?

Bob and Mike on horseback

We had a wonderful two-week trip to Hawaii. The highlight for me was the Kualoa Ranch horseback ride.

Our welcome back to Wisconsin, however, was so awful we have to laugh. Dan picked us up at the airport this morning after the lousy lo-o-o-ng plane ride with not enough sleep and kinks in the neck. He packed his stuff and headed for home and Bob and I were considering a long nap.... when we got a knock on our door. It's our neighbor, Larry, who tells us "your horses just chased my cows out of my pasture and into the woods across the street. I can't get near the red and white one. He's too feisty. Can you come get them so I can bring my cows back?"

Then the phone rang. Dan; his car is having trouble. Can we help? Sorry, Dan, you are on your own.

The rest of the day we spent chasing horses. Bob with a bucket of grain followed by two horses followed by me in the car to warn traffic.

When we finally got them penned, we discovered the automatic watering system was frozen. No wonder they went off exploring. So it's back to the watering trough. We locked them in for the night. Tommorrow, we'll be mending fences.
