Riding the hills
Another day with Gilly. This time I was organized, and walked Gilly down to Art and Vicki's on time. I'm trying to make him lead with me at his side. This is so hard for him. He does not want to be in front. When we got to the neighbor's goats and cows and dogs and roosters crowing, he dug his heels in and stopped. Two steps, pull, stop. What a chore. Next he shoulders me. So I twirl the end of the lead rope. When it hits his face, he moves off. It's not fun for either of us.

Once there, he was happy to have other horses to be with. We rode in their large front yard, warming up with Thunder, Winrod and Montana. Then we went up and around the large hill, into the pasture, and over the next hill. I knew there'd be cows so I was ready when he reacted. Just a bunch of snorting, a stop and then we were OK.
